MEDIA RELEASE NIGHT FOUR

DOUBLE UP FOR FARRELL IN DARWIN !

WA's Ryan Farrell scored the double in Darwin tonight by winning the 30 lap feature race to round out night 2 of the Chariots of Thunder Sprintcar series and win the Second round of the series. Tonight also coupled up as the Darwin Sprintcar title.

In a feature race shrouded in a controversial start, the front two rows came together which ended the race for Ben Atkinson. In the aftermath, Ekins ended up wearing the steering wheel of the NT3 car after Atkinson launched it at him whilst forming up the pack again. In a feature race that ran relatively trouble free, apart from NT's Troy David tripping over with 12 laps to go, Farrell threaded the field with the guile of a surgeon to maintain his enviable advantage of the rest of the field here at Darwin's Ostojic Northline Speedway. Jamie Maiolo and Adrian Maher filled the minor placings.

Farrell commenced the night by winning Heat 1 in a new 10 lap race record ahead of Ben Atkinson and Tassie Terrier Shaun Dobson. Warrenne Ekins claimed Heat 2 after a false start which saw the demise of Cameron Gessner in the Brooke David machine. Jamie Maiolo scored second with Ben Ellement third.

Heat 3 was relatively non eventful with Adrian Maher from NSW taking honors ahead of Allan Barlee who was continuing his excellent form over the two nights. NT's Daniel Goldoni rounded out the placings. NT's Jason McIver returned for Heat 4 after his spectacular exit prior to Heat 1 last night and return to the fold with a superb drive to win ahead of James McFadden and Ryan Farrell blitzing through the field from a rear start to claim third place.

Heat 5 belonged to Cameron Gessner ahead of Warrenne Ekins and Queenslander Brett Thomas. The final heat for the night saw Adrian Maher retire from the race to leave the NT's Wayne Bridgeford to take out a well deserved win ahead of NSW's Ian Loudoun and the "dude" Paul Morris continuing to improve with a third placing.

Jason McIver's horrors returned in the B Main to wreck the #66 TRX machine in similar fashion to that of the night before and in the same position in turn 2 against the wall (in front of his fan club !). Ian Loudoun won the race ahead of James McFadden and Cameron Gessner. The 3rd and final round of the Chariots of Thunder Series wraps up at Northline Speedway next weekend with the double header of the 4th and 5th September.
