Chariots of Thunder Sprintcar Series - Summary

  • Sprintcars NT proposes to conduct 8 nights of racing over a 6 weekend period, commencing 30th June, 2007 and concluding 15th September, 2007.
  • A limited number of ‘Contracted’ drivers will be approached to take part in the Series.
  • Drivers must be able to compete at a minimum of 5 nights of racing to qualify for the full compliment of tow money (subject to the promotions discretion)
  • Appearance money will be paid to nominated contracted drivers completing each racing event (subject to damage etc.)
  • Prize Money will be available as per the schedule on each night of competition
  • Prize Money will be available as per the schedule for the complete Series
  • Drivers who are not contracted are still permitted to nominate and compete for all prize monies but Tow Money will only be allocated to contracted drivers.

 

Conditions of Entry

  • This Event is open to all SCCA Affiliated Club registered drivers.
  • All drivers must have a current SCCA licence and NASR AA licence.
  • All Sprintcars must have current SCCA registration Log Book and must comply with relevant October 2006 SCCA Rule Book Specifications and regulations
  • At scrutineering and the commencement of any race meeting, all drivers must produce their SCCA Log Book, SCCA Licence and NASR AA Licence.
  • All competitors are subject to the supplementary regulations for the event.

 

Nominations

·        All drivers are to nominate for these events by no later than close of business on Friday, 23rd June, 2007.

  • Nomination fees are $220.00 (GST Inc.) per driver/car combination.
  • Late Nomination cost is $330.00 (GST Inc.) per driver/car combination (Non Refundable)
  • Nomination fees include the issue of one competitor and 3 crew entry passes to each night’s competition at each venue
  • Payment can be made by Cheque / Money Order and must be made out to S.N.T. and sent to
      • 2007 NT C.O.T. Sprintcar Series P.O. Box 542, Virginia N.T. 0822
  • Postal Delays are not acceptable as an excuse for a late nomination
  • Any nominations received after the 29th June will be accepted.  Tow Money may not be available.
  • Any driver who nominates but fails to attend the race meeting will not be entitled to a refund of the nomination fee.
  • Any competitor who attends a race meeting with a race vehicle that is mechanically unable to compete will not receive any refunds or tow money.  Ability to compete will be evaluated by whether the race vehicle did start (met the green flag) in any of the heats, final races or at the discretion of the Chief Steward/Promotion Management.
  • The full compliment of appearance / tow money available to drivers is conditional upon drivers nominating for and attending a minimum of 5 events:
    • Full Contracted Drivers
      • Maximum of $500.00 Appearance Money per event started)
      • Maximum of $2,000.00 Tow Money, minimum 5 starts in any 6 events per car (two night race events are considered as one event).
    • Part Contracted Drivers
      • Maximum of $2,000.00 Tow Money, minimum 5 starts in any 6 events per car (two night race events are considered as one event).
    • Non Contracted Drivers
      • No Tow money is available.
  • The Promotion’s Committee reserves the right to accept or refuse/reject any nomination or information provided by the nominee.
  • All drivers are to attend all driver briefings unless otherwise advised.  Any driver not attending the driver’s briefing will not receive their 50 attendance points and will start rear of field in the heats.  Drivers are to attend all briefings dressed in their race suit.

 

Racing Rules

  • The racing events will take place under the rules, regulations and specifications as set out in the October 2006 SCCA Rule Book and the Supplementary regulations as permitted in the October 2006 SCCA Rule Book
  • Any driver disqualified from a heat or feature will not receive any points or prize money for that heat or feature unless drop out points and prize can be awarded as per the SCCA rule book.
  • All competitors will be required to perform wheel packing of the track until directed otherwise by infield officials.  Failure to comply will result in that competitor starting rear of field for any heats on that competition night (At the discretion of the promoters / organizers)
  • The promoter or its delegates have the right to test engine sizes at any time whether previously sealed or not.  All cars may be subject to weight examination at any time.

 

Control Tyres

·        Tyre Selection for this event is as per the October 2006 SCCA Rule Book.

 

 

Event Sponsor Requirements

  • All competitors competing in this event must display naming rights sponsor decals (if supplied by the organizer)
  • All competitors competing in this event must display support sponsor decals (if supplied by the organizer)
  • Acceptance of any point score money or tow money allows the sponsor use of any photographic material (taken at the sponsors expense) of the winner or his/her race car in any form of printed or electronic media, stating that the competitor received the award or prize money.  The sponsor cannot claim product endorsement without the permission of the competitor

 

Point Score Format

  • Two separate points scores will exist throughout the series
    • Nightly Points Score System
      • All competing Sprintcars are eligible to compete within this points system
      • Prize Money will be paid according to finishing positions on this system

 

    • Series Point Score System
      • All competing Sprintcars are eligible to compete within this points system
      • Prize Money will be paid according to finishing positions on this system
      • Trophies will be awarded as per the final finishing positions on this system

 

    • Darwin & NT Sprintcar Titles
      • All competing Sprintcars are eligible to compete within this points system
      • Prize Money will be paid according to finishing positions on this system
      • Trophies will be awarded as per the finishing positions on this system

  • All event points will be awarded according to official finishing results
  • Non finishers in any heat will receive no points
  • All point score positions are provisional until results are confirmed and released
  • Northline Speedway operates the AMB automated Timing System as the official race recording system.  All drivers are to ensure an AMB Transponder (Tx unit) is affixed to their Sprintcar in the designated location during all Warm up, Time Trial, Heat or Feature event.  Tx units are available for hire from the venue.  Drivers hiring Tx units are liable for any damage/loss of the Tx unit.
  • Automatic Timing Administration Fees - Tx Hire rates are $20.00 per night ($10.00 if you provided your own)
  • All drivers are to make themselves available for Print and Electronic media interviews etc. during or at the end of the night’s racing
  • All competitors will be required to make their cars available to be displayed at a venue as per promotional requirements

Miscellaneous

DRUGS IN SPORT POLICY

  • Random drug and alcohol testing of drivers, owners, officials and pit crews for prohibited substances may be conducted throughout the event.
    • Alcohol – Per qualified accredited tester
    • Drugs – As per relevant standard (October 2006 SCCA Rule Book)
  • Penalties for failing to take part in or failing either a drug or alcohol test will be defined as per the relevant SCCA October2006 Rule Book
  • Presentation of cars
    • All teams and cars will be presented in a professional manner
    • All drivers will attire neat and tidy personal racing equipment
    • All crews will attire neat and tidy similar personal uniforms
    • All cars will be presented in a neat and tidy condition
    • All person in the pit area must wear a minimum of shorts  and enclosed footwear
    • All drivers and Crew Chiefs must attend all Driver’s Briefings
    • All Drivers are to attend the Driver’s Briefing in his/her drivers suit
  • All Quad Riders must wear an approved AS 1698 standard helmet when riding a quad bike anywhere on the Northline Speedway Venue.  Quad riders failing to correctly wear an approved helmet, including not securing the neck strap may subject their driver to a fine/penalty
  • A hot area is utilized within the pit area at Northline Speedway.  Any driver not complying with the hot area requirements may be subject to a fine/penalty.

Prize Money & Awards

  • Prize money as per attachment ‘C’
  • Prize money will be awarded according to the official results.  Each driver will be required to sign acceptance of the official results of the race meeting at the same time as collecting his/her log book.
  • The promoter reserves the right to alter any payouts or awards.  Drivers will be informed of any alteration at the drivers briefing prior to the commencement of the event.
  • All prize money/tow money will be paid to the driver by the promoter per cheque.
  • All advertised prize money amounts are GST Inclusive
  • Log Books will be available for collection from the promoter’s tent 30 minutes after the completion of the A Main event.
  • Rain Out Clause,
    • If a race meeting is cancelled prior to 5 pm on race day, no monies are payable from the promoter for that day.
    • If the race meeting is cancelled between 6.00 pm and the 6th scheduled race (not limited to Sprintcar races) 12% or the agreed Prize Money is payable from the promoter.
    • If the race meeting is cancelled after the heats (or after the 6th event), whichever comes first, then 50% of the agreed Prize Money is payable from the promoter.
    • In the preceding 3 circumstances, the promoter will firstly deduct incurred expenses, and the remaining amount will be divided equally amongst the drivers attending.
    • In the event of the A Main starting but the race cannot be completed, the SCCA Rule Book (Race Distance definition) will apply
    • A rain day date will be held on the day following the cancellation of the event.
  • If television is present and available on the night, a full schedule of television times and dates will be forwarded at a later date.

Points Award Systems

NT C.O.T. Sprintcar Series Points

All points will awarded to each driver throughout the series (driver’s briefing, hot lap timed sessions, heats, shootouts and feature events) will be collated to determine the Series Winner.  The collation of these points will not determine racing grids.

Darwin and NT Sprintcar Titles

Each title will be treated as a separate event.  Points will be allocated throughout the night for each event and will be included in the Series points system.  Points awarded throughout each Title event will determine the grid positions as per the format for its respective title event and are not transferable to another title event.   Trophies and prize money will be determined on finishing position from the A Main Feature Race.

Nightly Sprintcar Events

Points will be allocated throughout the night for each event and will be included in the Series points system.  Points awarded throughout each event will determine the grid positions as per the format.   Prize money will be determined on finishing position from the A Main Feature Race.
