General Information
Northline Speedway is a club run venue, managed
by a committee elected from the membership. Northline Speedway hosts seven
speedway sections. The venue is located at the Hidden Valley Motor Sports Complex,
Darwin, N.T. and is one of six motorsport disciplines sharing the 94 hectare
Complex. The Complex is situated approximately 12 kilometres from the Darwin
Central Business District area and is also within a 10 minute drive to Darwin's
International Airport.
Northline Speedway Statistics
The racing track measures 402 metres, one metre off the pole line.
It's racing surface consists primarily of a clay base mixture and measures 16
metres wide on the two straights and 18 metres on all corners.
The venue has a seperate entry and
exit gate for access to the pit area. The venue boasts a two story Control
Tower which houses an adminstrative office on the lower floor and a race
officials, timekeepers and announcer booth on the top floor.
The Northline venue accesses
to a pit area capable of housing up to 40 transporters. A seperate
members car park and members airconditioned bar are also available.
Located in a natural
amphitheatre, up to 8,000 spectators are afforded a natural elevated view
(around 75%) of the racing area.
Technology Improvements
Northline Speedway operates the AMB automated timing system to accurately
record race results. (Tx 260 Transponder coupled to the Natsoft Timing Software).
Full race results (Provisional) are
uploaded to the Natsoft Website,
usually within two minutes of the completion of the actual race.
Steward to Driver communication is utilised for all sections. Northline Speedway now provides
live audio web broadcasts (link to the right) and selected live audio/video web broadcasts.
In house video broadcasts, including replay capability, are now available
for Stewards, Commentators and vision is broadcast to the new members clubrooms.
